Dr. Susan Blackmore has a truncated understanding of memes. I think 30 years from now, with enough personal computing power to evolve a virtual universe of sentient beings, after memetically engineering an atheistic religion for them, even after carefully preening any awareness of herself from their religious plumage, she still won't get it.

This calls for a paraphrase of Isaiah 37, verses 16 thru 20:

O Lord, Almighty God of Israel enthroned between the Guardian Angels, you alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone made heaven and earth. Listen as I plead; see me as I pray. Listen to this Pop!Tech 2005 conference from Susan Blackmore, for she has mocked the living God. It is true, O Lord, that she has condemned ancient theistic religions for being injurious, and believes she has refuted theism in general; because Catholicism and Islamism in particular have memes that exist for no other reason than to propagate themselves. So, of course she could condemn if not refute them.

O Lord our God, save us so that all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you are God, and you alone.
